1. Who are we?
We are a thriving church that is committed to loving people by meeting them where they are and encouraging them to become lifelong, joyous followers of Jesus Christ.
2. When and where?
We have three Sunday services at 8:15, 10:00 & 11:45 AM. Salem is located at 634 Clove Road, between Forest Avenue and the Staten Island Zoo. If you are coming from Brooklyn, we are about 10 minutes from the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
3. Is there a dress code?
The dress code is casual. Whether you decide to wear jeans, shorts, t-shirts, ties, or a suit, you will fit right in.
4. What should I expect on my first visit?
From the moment you first arrive, it’s our goal to make you feel at home. Someone from our First Touch team will meet you at the door with a smile and ready to answer any questions you might have. From there, you can stop by our Welcome Desk, check your kids in at the SalemKIDS kiosk, or head right into the worship service. Our three services currently take place Sundays at 8:15, 10:00 & 11:45 AM.
5. Speaking of kids, what is available for my kids?
We were hoping you would ask! You can check in your child(ren) in the lower level for our nursery, toddler and PreK/Kindergarten rooms. Kids in grades 1 to 6 can be checked in at the kiosk in the Welcome Center. In children’s church (grades 1 to 6) we offer lessons and small groups during all services. JUMP is a special ministry just for 5th & 6th graders that meets on the first Sunday of every month from 4-5:30 PM in the gym. Salem Students include both a mid-week ministry for 7th & 8th graders that meets on Wednesdays, 7-9 PM and High School students (grades 9-12) that meets on Friday nights from 8-10:30 PM at the church.
6. What is the worship experience like?
Our experiences are meaningful, creative and spiritually engaging. Each experience kicks off with a time of live worship music.
Then, our Pastor shares a biblically-centered message that's always honest and challenging, empowering you to apply Jesus' words to your daily life. We like to end our teaching time with a few minutes of prayer. Then we wrap up the experience with a few closing announcements and an opportunity to give back to God.
7. What do I do when I first arrive this weekend?
If you decide to visit us this weekend, please make sure to stop by the Welcome Center after the service for your free gift, or simply let one of the greeters know that it is your first time with us. We'd love to help you and your family get situated, and one of our pastors would love the opportunity to shake your hand and personally welcome you to Salem Church.
7. Where do I park?
In addition to our church lot and extensive parking along Clove Road, there’s overflow parking available in the large municipal lot across from the Zoo — a short walk to our front door.
