Serve at Salem

Using our gifts and passions to serve others.

Imagine the transformation that would happen in our families, church and community if we all took the time to do what God uniquely designed each of us to do in order to serve others. Whether you have lots of time to volunteer each week or only a few hours every once in awhile, consider making the kind of difference that only you can make. You'll love the way God will use you as you serve him at Salem Church.

Where do I start?

Consider how God has uniquely wired you. Consider your personality, skills, abilities and life experiences. How could these help you make a difference in the lives of others?

Ask yourself, "What am I passionate about?" What issue or people group really catches your interest? What problem or issue would you like to solve?

Every Christian is a minister. At Salem Church we seek to not only provide times for people to be ministered to, but also to provide opportunities for everyone to be involved in a ministry. Take a look around and see which ministries you may want to be a part of - as well as which ministries you can serve in. There are some that will involve training and equipping, as well as others that you can begin serving at right away. Join a ministry today!

Hospitality
Cooking for someone or a group is one of the easiest ways to show the love of Christ. We have many events that could use the talents of people who are willing to work in the kitchen. Let us know today if you want to be a part of this team.

Nursing Home Ministry

Once a month a team from Salem Church visits the Clove Lakes Nursing Home. Many times the residents of senior care facilities cannot ever come to a church service on Sunday. So we bring our service to them. We lead a time in worship and have a devotional lesson for the residents from 9:00-10:30 am, leaving time to make it back to Salem for the 12:15 pm service. Come and be a part of this outreach in our community. You will be blessed.

Cornerstone
Cornerstone is a gathering specifically for the senior members of Salem Church and their friends. It meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the Fellowship Hall. The meeting is a great time that includes lunch, fellowship, hymn singing and a brief devotional that inspires seniors to stay close to their Lord, stay the course, and intentionally disciple younger believers.

UTOPIA Outreach Inc.
UTOPIA is a 501 (c) (3) corporation formed in conjunction with Salem Church to provide an outreach to the New York City community through various programs including Summer Camps, Upward Basketball League, Clove Lakes Tutoring Center, ESL classes and Kids' Night.

The Live Nativity
Every year at Christmastime, the Salem Church community tells the true story of Christmas. With a petting zoo, Broadway quality costuming, and a full choir, we share with everyone who passes by the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. This is a favorite treat for the community. The whole event is free, including all the hot chocolate and cookies you can eat. Volunteers are needed for the choir, hospitality with cookies and hot chocolate, clean up, greeters.
